ST HELENS Gilbert and Sullivan Society will be gracing the Theatre Royal next month with their production of The Gondoliers.
This uplifting, world-renowned comic opera is set partly in Venice and partly in a kingdom ruled by a pair of gondoliers who attempt to rule in a spirit of ‘republican equality’ while waiting for the rightful monarch to be chosen.
The production features a typically lively score including well-known Gilbert and Sullivan numbers such as We’re Called Gondolieri, Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes and the dancing of the Cachucha.
A case of mistaken identity and the prospect of a Royal Wedding add to the excitement.
The production will run at the Theatre Royal, from Wednesday, March 9 to Saturday, March 12 from 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £10-£10 and are available from the Box Office on 01744 756000, or from the ticket secretary on 01744 25089.
