MATE Productions are to hit the stage with their “most ambitious” show yet.

The Prescot organisation is to go on tour with a reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.

The spectacular steampunk-inspired show is directed and produced by MATE’s Gaynor La Rocca, and involves more than 100 community actors, dancers, musicians, singers and volunteers from ages eight to 80-plus.

With original live music by Taran Harris and stunning Victorian futuristic costume by Jane Allen, this nautical odyssey also boasts explosive percussion direction by Francisco Carrasco.

Choreography and movement direction comes from Beverley Norris Edmonds, with swashbuckling fight direction by British Equity Fight director Renny Krupinski.

The buccaneering adventure promises a thrilling voyage for the family.

It will be performed at Prescot Woodland Theatre on Saturday, June 9 at 4pm and 7pm and July 14 at 2pm and 7pm.

Meanwhile, the maiden voyage is on April 20 and 21 as the tour opens at Liverpool’s Unity Theatre.

The MATE ship will take in parks, gardens and woodlands across Merseyside in June and July, with its final port of call at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

See mateproductions.co.uk for tickets, except the Unity, or call 0844 8000 410. Cost is £12 for adults, £8 a child or £30 for a family of two adults and two children.
