BROOKFEST will return at the weekend – and it will be one of the last chances to see Stillia play on home soil before they embark on their overseas tour.

The indie rockers will be among the acts for the festival at Blackbrook rugby league club on Saturday (August 5).

The event has cemented its place on the town’s musical calendar and organisers are thrilled to have again secured the Suttoners, who have recently played at the high profile Kendal Calling and Blackthorn Festivals.

Stillia, who enjoyed a spot on BBC North West Tonight’s news coverage of the Kendal concert, are set to take off on a tour Down Under this year, supporting Ocean Colour Scene in Dubai, Australia and New Zealand this November.

The band’s frontman Jack Bennett said: “Brookfest, is always a mega festival. We love playing it every year and no matter what happens to Stillia in the future, we’ll always be making sure we’re at Brookfest

“The people who run it put their everything in to it to make it a top festival for our town.

“It’s probably the best festival we have in the town and I have a lot of time for a bunch a top people who organise it. It’s attended by the best people of the North West, St Helens people.

“We can’t wait to see everyone down at the front.”

Organiser Jeff McGowan said: “Stillia are playing and it’s like a homecoming gig after all of the success they’ve enjoyed this year. We’re made up with that.

“Headlining is a Bon Jovi tribute who jumped at the chance and they are travelling from Baskingstoke to be with us. Word is spreading and a lot want to play the event.”

Around 1,200 partied in the sun at last year’s event and organisers are hoping for a near capacity turnout again this year.

“Last year was a fantastic atmosphere and it’s family friendly and a proper festival feel.”

There will be an outdoor bar, food and festival traders with doors open from noon until 10pm. The lineup includes Bon Jovie, Stillia, Puls Rock UK, King Monday, Enigma, Radioactive, Caution, George Borowski with Mora and the Fabulous Wonderfuls and Salander.

Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a paying adult and all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
