A MUSICAL treat will be in store at the Tunza Centre this weekend showcasing some of the town’s best up-and-coming talent.

The Boundary Road venue will play host to several acts on Saturday evening who are making waves in the music scene.

Among the line-up is group Scarlet, fronted by Jessie Robinson, from Dentons Green.

The group has already supported acts including Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats, and played UK-based festivals alongside bands such as Wolf Alice, Black Honey and Blossoms. They are also set to embark on their UK tour at the end of this year.

Also to sing are rising four-piece alternative rock band Paper Mountains. Hailing from Sutton and Bold, they launched debut EP The Road Less Travelled earlier this year at Liverpool’s Zanzibar Club and have been gigging across the country. They also plan a second release by November.

The evening will also see Stu Oggy from Titors Insignia perform an acoustic set of original and cover songs including Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, and The Beatles.

“We’re trying to keep it local to showcase how amazing the talent in St Helens is to people and provide a night of quality live music,” said Jessie, of Scarlet.

“I’ve put the event on myself and I’m so excited. It is looking to be a great night.

“We don’t really have quality music events aside from the big festivals where it’s impossible to see all the great bands. I’m hoping this will be more of a community party.”

Entry is £5 with a 6.30pm start. See the event's Facebook page for more.
