THE music of iconic country legend Johnny Cash will performed by Cash-family endorsed tribute act The Johnny Cash Roadshow at St Helens Theatre Royal this June.

The show, described as "fire-cracking entertainment", comes to the theatre on Friday, June 9 as part of a UK tour.

Featuring singer-songwriter Clive John and the 'Carter Sisters' on backing vocals, the performance brings a set of well-loved numbers to fans of country music and die-hard Cash fans.

A spokeswoman for the show said: "The stage lights up with a colourful explosion of energy, against a striking backdrop of classic screen imagery of the 'real deal'.

"Clive John, captures the essence of Cash with exceptional style and confidence. His deep, distinctive vocals are spot-on, evoking pure country magic with 'Walk the Line', 'Folsom Prison Blues' and 'A Thing Called Love'."

The band are Martin Bentley, on bass, guitarist Nick Davis and Darren Bazzoni, on drums, as well as brass section 'Roadshow Horns'.

The spokeswoman added: "Despite the band's professional portfolio and slick stage presence. they reach a direct intimacy with audiences of all ages that other performers can't quite pull off. This is more than just a show, it's a heart-warming story played out with genuine passion and a wonderful celebration of one of world's greatest known artists."

A Theatre Royal spokeswoman said: "After sell-out shows across Europe this is now a bigger show than ever, introducing the Carter Sisters and Roadshow Horns, all accompanied by emotive screen visuals. This is simply the best celebration of Johnny Cash in the world."

The show starts at 7.30pm.
