A RADIO 2 Folk Award nominee Jim Moray is set to play at The Citadel as part of a fantastic double header with song writer Luke Daniels.

Jim Moray, who will appear for one night only alongside Daniels on Friday March 10, has been nominated for the award for his album Upcetera having been at the forefront of a new movement in English traditional music for 15 years.

His debut album Sweet England changed the sound of folk and won awards for its innovative melding of orchestration and electronica.

Subsequent albums embraced everything from grime to Johnny Marr-esque guitar pop, but at their heart was always Jim’s unmistakeable soulful and yearning voice; singing old songs in a new way.

His sixth album Upcetera heralds a new chapter for the producer and has received the best reviews of his career, including five stars from Mojo, fRoots and R2 magazines.

He has also found the time to contribute three new songs to BBC Dr Who spin-off show Class, and launched his own Low Culture Podcast.

Luke Daniels who has been described as “an enchanting delight,” is an award-winning singer and composer who uses an original 19th century Polyphon machine as part of the performance.

Tickets cost £14 and the performance will start at 7.30pm.
