A YOUNG actor will take centre stage in a leading role at Liverpool's Epstein Theatre for a production of classic farce Noises Off.

Former De La Salle and Cowley sixth form student Tom Platt will play Lloyd Dallas in the show which will play in January.

Tom, who studied at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, has gone on to work in the West End.

Last year he made a hometown return to play Richard Hannay as the 39 Steps was performed at the Theatre Royal.

Now Tom, from Thatto Heath, is ready to hit the stage in the new year in Noises Off, alongside Liverpool actress Vikki Earle.

The show explores the trials, tribulations and downright chaos of staging a play.

The role of Lloyd was made famous by Michael Caine in the 1992 film adaptation of Noises Off.

Tom, 23, said: "I am thrilled to be returning to Merseyside to play this iconic role and I am lucky to be working with such a fabulous cast.

"I hope lots of local people come along to watch this play which will be fantastically funny."

The show runs on Friday, January 27 and Saturday 28 and tickets are available on 0844 888 4411 or epsteinliverpool.co.uk.
