AN up-and-coming band has been making a big impression on the town's music scene in recent months.

Five-piece indie and heavy pop group Weekend Wars have been entertaining audiences across the town and beyond since they crashed on to the scene in 2015.

The group has released three tracks so far, with another to come next month (October) and for vocalist Jack Arnold working with the band is a dream come true.

"I've enjoyed it and it's something I always wanted to do to be in a band," said Jack.

"We're all best of mates and have all graduated. We're all aged 22 to 24 and we started about 11 months ago. It's about taking it to the next step now really.

"It's that much of a competitive industry you have to have something different about you. We take that '90s pop approach but we all listen to different stuff and we all give different offerings and mix it up a bit."

The band's first single 'She' was played on various radio stations including Radio Merseyside and the group has already been played on national radio and are featured in the Flying Vinyl subscription service.

Highlights for the band so far also include playing at the Warrington Festival in memory of Viola Beach in September.

"Our first gig was last year at Zoo Bar and we have played around Liverpool and Manchester and at Tank Bar quite a bit," added Jack, 22.

"We want to take it full time, that's the main ambition to break it."
