SOUL and pop singer Lisa Stansfield is set to be the next big name to hit the Haydock Park stage this Friday night.

Lisa, who shot to fame with song All Around the World and scored international hits with her 80s and 90s albums, will bring a close to another big summer of music at the racecourse.

She is set to perform her classic songs as well as hits from her 2014 album Seven, when she takes the stage following an evening of racing.

Lisa also starred in 2014 film Northern Soul, playing mum, which followed two friends' journey amid the dance culture that grew up around the discoveries of cult American soul tracks in 70s Lancashire.

The Rochdale-born soul queen has said she is looking forward to the live performance at Haydock, saying the borough is a place close to her heart.

She added: "Playing at Haydock is going to be special. It's my part of the world - or near enough. The St Helens area is where lots of extended family live, so they had better come along to see me. If they do I'll give them a wave."
