SINGER-SONGWRITER Nick Harper will perform at the Citadel this weekend to help promote his third and final vinyl Retrospective album.

Son of the legendary Roy Harper, Nick was born in London and raised in Wiltshire and having played the guitar from the age of 10 was surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour as he grew up.

He made his recording debut on his father's Whatever Happened to Jugula? in 1985.

His live shows features personal introspection to biting political satire via a charmingly caustic wit that would make Groucho Marx proud.

He often switches from his own compositions to well-loved covers he makes his own - taking on Presley, Zappa, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Monty Python and Public Enemy.

He also seems to have the alarming ability to break guitar strings almost by sheer force of will and then change them without dropping a beat and has been dazzling audiences and reviewers alike with this boyish charm, showmanship and sheer bravado for more than a decade.

The last time Nick performed at the Citadel Nick continued playing for his audience outside on the street at the end of the evening, providing spectators with a night to remember.

Fans will be in for a real treat when he takes to the stage so come down to the Citadel for what is sure to be a memorable evening.

The show takes place on Saturday, May 28 with doors open from 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 and available on 01744 735 436 or go to www.citadel.org.uk.
