WITH the holiday season nearly upon us, the Theatre Royal is set to host another spellbinding Easter panto.
Peter Pan will delight audiences for this year's show which launches on Good Friday (March 25).
It follows from the success of last year's Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella which was staged at the venue last Christmas.
The show will be headlined by former X Factor finalist Ray Quinn after the Liverpudlian swooped in at the last minute to replace Towie’s Lewis Bloor, who was no longer able to appear due to film commitments.
The show will also see Theatre Royal regular Laura Gregory return in another magical adventure to portray Wendy.
Meanwhile, Radio City’s Claire Simmo plays Tinkerbell, with Philip McGuinness as Captain Hook, Charlotte Gallagher as Tigerlilly, Liam Mellor as Smee and Simon Foster as Mrs Smee.
The production of JM Barrie’s timeless classic about the Boy Who Never Grew Up, will be at the theatre until Sunday, April 17.
Looking ahead to the panto, Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Royal manager, was thrilled that the show was able to recruit the former Dancing On Ice and Brookside star for the main role.
She said: “We are over the moon to welcome Ray to the cast of Peter Pan as he is such an amazing performer – he is a great singer, dancer and actor – he’s got the whole package.
“He is perfect for the role of Peter Pan as he has plenty of charm and he will join our stellar crew of panto favourites who always provide a fabulous family show and are guaranteed to add ‘egg-citement’ to your Easter half term holidays.”
