BACK with a bang for 2016 The Corrs have been announced as a headline act for a summer open air concert at Haydock Park.

Last year more than 40,000 music fans descended on the racecourse to see show stopping performances from headline acts including Kylie, Madness and Kaiser Chiefs.

Since releasing their album Forgiven, Not Forgotten in 1996 The Corrs have gone on to sell more than 30m albums worldwide. Known for hits including Runaway and Breathless, the band took a ten year break to spend time with their families while Sharon and Andrea pursued solo careers. They returned last year to a rapturous welcome with their album White Light which reached number 11 in the UK charts and catapulted them back into the touring circuit with a sold out arena tour.

The Corrs said: "We love open air summer shows so are really looking forward to playing Haydock Park on June 18 after the races. We had a fantastic time playing songs from our new album White Light at the Echo Arena at the start of the year so can't wait to perform all our hits for a few familiar faces and more this summer."

An Evening at the Races sees headline music acts follow a day of racing.

Jason Fildes, Haydock Park's General Manager said: "We're delighted to announce The Corrs to kick off a thrilling summer of music at Haydock Park. They are a superb, globally renowned band who I'm sure will create an electric atmosphere after a top class day of racing. Last years was our most successful year of music at Haydock Park which included a sell out performance by Kylie. I'm sure this year will be even better starting with The Coors on Saturday, June 18. We look forward to announcing other acts shortly."

In addition to Haydock Park, promoters The Jockey Club Live will be hosting concerts at other racecourses which will see Tom Jones at Aintree, Will Young and Little Mix at Newmarket and Bryan Adams at Sandown Park.
