HI folks, ST back after my short sabbatical and once more loads happening in the town over the next few days. All the usual venues are up and running and great to see The Raven making a return to presenting live music. I'm sure some of our more "mature" music fans will remember with nostalgia the days of Engine, Snatchback, A.S.A, The Steve Chainsaw 3 et al, all of whom made many an appearance at this venue back in the late 70s early 80s.

Congratulations to Paul Griffiths of the Zoo Bar for being nominated for a Pride of St Helens award for his tireless organisation of this year's Westfield Street Festival. And, speaking of the Zoo Bar, this Friday the bar presents Tom Hingely (ex vocalist with Madchester's Inspiral Carpets) and local indie legends The Jars. That all kicks off at 8.30pm. There's another bit of a coup for the Zoo on Friday, November 20 when Ex Icicle Works vocalist and guitarist Ian McNabb will be playing an acoustic set.

Expect some great material from his new album "Krugerrands" as well as some great stuff from most of his back catalogue.

Out in Rainford on Saturday, at the Junction Inn, The Lazzy Band make their return to the local area. It's the first of four gigs in the borough over the next few weeks so if you've not managed to catch "The Lazzies" on their previous visits to the area, now's your chance.
