A BAND which is gaining a growing reputation around the town is looking forward to the release of their debut single.

The four-piece Pretty Pennys have become a regular fixture around the local music scene and also across the region.

Performances over the summer which have included a successful first appearance at the Westfield Street festival, playing in the Sefton Arms and supporting Stockport group The Blossoms at a Get It Loud in libraries event and playing the Big Busk at Victoria Park.

Having played gigs around the region as well, the group, whose members all come from the town, are now excited at reaching the next level with the release of a their first single, 'Nothing To Me' next month.

Lead guitar and vocalist Phil Harrison, from Clinkham Wood, said: "People will have already heard it who have been to see us. We have got a couple of weeks off and then we will get the single ready and hopefully we will have a video and the song ready and then it's finding something to advertise it.

"We played at Zombie Shock in Manchester recently and that was a really good gig. We've got a few things coming up and on November 28 we will be doing a raffle with donations for the foodbank," added Phil, 33.
