KAISER Chiefs will be performing at Haydock Park on August 7.

The Ruby and I Predict A Riot singers are playing at the racecourse as part of its summer season which has already seen sets by Kylie and Madness.

Bassist Simon Rix said: "These kinds of shows are different. There’s racing and drinking and everyone's quite dressed up and they’re all on a big night out."

Frontman Ricky Wilson added: "It’s kind of like a wedding, because you’ve got guys with their ties around their heads going mental.

"I really enjoy it, it’s a different vibe to anything else we’ve done."

Kaiser Chiefs, who toured South America with Foo Fighters, have released five albums including the number ones, Yours Truly, Angry Mob and Education, Education, Education and War.

But these days Ricky is better known as a coach on talent show The Voice. Not that you can expect any collaborations with the show's stars any time soon.

"I'm not one of those people that’s going to ask Will.i.am to remix a record or Rita to appear on ‘Falling Awake’," added Ricky.

"We like the unit we’ve got, it’s worked for a long time.

"I enjoy being on The Voice but it’s quite stressful because it’s not just a game show, it’s something for people's lives and I want them to do well.

"I’m telling these kids on that TV show to appreciate every single moment.

"You might not be U2, but you can do it. You might have to have another job to sustain your career in music, but you can do it."
