WE'VE had some great news with a new acoustic jam night starting up this Thursday (May 14) at the Brasserie Chalon in Barrow Street.
The night will see the return of Greg Davies who has run many successful jam nights over the years at The Zoo Bar, Bell and Barrel and The Duke of Cambridge. And local musicians Phil M and Paul C, aka the Mad Hatters, will be the house band on the night. Anyone from beginners to pro players can get up and show their stuff.
The evening itself will kick off at about 9pm and it's great to see Greg return to the jam night/open mic scene and I'm sure all of us wish him success in this new venture.
Meanwhile a few highlights of this coming weekend to watch out for include Papa Legba returning to the Rendezvous this coming Friday.
Scott, Allan and Graham bring their brand of blues and rock back to the venue starting at 10pm.
Out of town in Haydock local 80s electronica experts, Electro 80's will be at the Ship Inn on Blackbrook Road on Friday. With a £7 door charge, if you're into or old enough to remember classics such as Kraftwerk's 'The Model' and 'Are Friends Electric' by Tubeway Army then this will be a great night for you.
Also out of town, The Junction Inn, Rainford is hosting a ukulele weekend. These have proved to be very popular there in the past and this coming weekend sees their first full weekend dedicated to this wonderful and easy to play instrument.
