LAST weekend I was indisposed with my own musical endeavours but my eyes and ears out on the scene assure me I missed out on some great sounds.

The weekend started early on Thursday with a four-piece young rock covers band Polker Dice playing at Tank Bar, Westfield Street, with a mix of classic and modern rock including Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Artic Monkeys and Foo Fighters.

Their energetic performance got the young crowd bouncing, dancing and singing to every song.

On Friday the Zoo Bar hosted four original bands in one night. The line-up featured 51st State, from Somerset, a funk drum and bass duo, Buff, from Manchester, a blend of abstract Dub and Punk, Public Order Act, from Bristol, Dub Punk and finishing the show local band One Eyed God mixing psychedelic Dub and festival sounds.

It was great to see One Eyed God back on home turf.

Saturday night in Sutton at The Red Lion saw couple of rock bands in action.

First up Six Shot, a young band who rocked the rafters with two great sets and an eclectic mix of covers.

Vyper, playing a number of classics and newer rock kept the crowd entertained with two upbeat sets.
