Hi folks, Simon T back again with the round up of whats happening live music wise 'Live in Glasstown'.

As I was compiling the gigs from Thursday last week to this Tuesday I counted 27 gigs happening across the borough. When you consider the size of the borough of St Helens it only goes to show that the local live music scene is very healthy indeed!

Not only is the scene healthy with the amount of venues all across the town, but also the amount of diverse music you can hear and see within the boundries of the borough is also enough to keep local music fans very happy. Last weekend alone you could hear the dub punky space rock sounds of festival favourites One Eyed God with support from Buff, public order and 51st state on Friday at the Zoo Bar on Westfield Street.

On the same night there was the sound of the blues over at the Rendezvous Bar, Church Street, with local favourites and veterans of the local live music scene 30 years strong next year too, The Swampstompers.

And for anyone wjho likes their music with more of a 60s feel, local duo, and also veterans of the local live music scene 'Hatrick' brought their brand of harmonic vocals to the Roundabout also on Friday night.

On Saturday out at the Red Lion in Robins Lane Sutton it was the heavier side of local music on display with Sixshot bringing their heavy rock and metal sounds to blow the earwax out of your eardrums. The world of indie music isn't left out of the equation either, with Stillia at the Lounge on Bridge street and Titors Insignia, fresh from supporting the Sex Pi**ed Dolls at the 02 academy in Liverpool last weekend at the Green Room.

If there’s nothing there that floats your boat there's the regular open mic nights at various venues in the borough and those nights are always great to see local talent stepping in front of an audience whether it be for the first time or regular singers and musicians who make these nights a great evening of diverse musical entertainment.

The words "Spoiled for choice" come to mind when you take into account whats on offer throughout the borough from The Junction, Rainford, to all the way across town to the Griffin inn, Earlstown and all ports inbetween.
