HI folks. Simon T once more, bringing you all that's happening "Live in Glasstown" this week.

It was another good week week on the live music front in the town. My spies in the field were telling me all the regular venues were doing good business and all the bands sounding on top form.

News on the Westfield Street festival front, The Citadel are now on board and the participating venues are getting their schedules together and confirming all the bands and performers for the big day. The line-ups throughout the town are looking great with some great local talent. So remember folks, Sunday, June 7 is the big, big, day so put it in your diary now!

Last Thursday we had some very sad news arrive at Glasstown towers. A good friend and a legend of the local music scene for many years, Barry Leach passed away.

Barry had been up front on the local music scene for many years being one of the founders and bass player for The Swampstompers and also during the mid nineties he formed, with myself and Ace/Dc's Steve Byatt, The Reggie Trowel Experience.

Barry was a good friend and mentor to me, especially during my early years on the scene in the mid-eighties, and if it hadn't been for him I would not be doing what I am doing today. There's so many memories and stories that I could recount from over the years that to even try to tell them here would take me a lifetime.

There is no doubt he will be missed by all who knew him but his legacy and memories will live on through us all. A celebration of Barry's life and memory will be taking place this coming Friday at St Helens Crematorium at 3pm.

Typical of Barry, to keep the mood happy, he requested no-one wears black. All of us here at the Glasstown page send our, thoughts, prayers and love to his family and friends. Our lives are just that brighter having known him and we will never forget.
