.....And here we go again! Time certainly flies! Simon T back again with everything live music wise, "Live in Glasstown".

Had a bit of a change this last week. Instead of my usual Friday wanderings I decided to see what was happening on Sunday evening around the town centre. I visited two venues on the Duke street side of St Helens. First port of call was the Breeze bar to catch St Helens favourites, Roulette. The Breeze bar is quite a large bar and well laid out to act as a live music venue, stage area and good sized space for a band in general.

Managed to catch most of Roulette's first set which was a good mix of funky classics and good old fashioned rock 'n' roll. A polished band indeed with guitar and great vocals from Chris Bayley and also in the line up keyboards and Saxaphone which you don't often see in bands in the local area and mad a great difference to the sound. Well worth catching if you see them advertised anywhere.

After highly enjoying Roulette, a quick nip next door to the Roundabout bar for the Duo "Hatrick". The Roundabout isn't the biggest of places and I can imagine it's a bit of a squeeze for a band, but it's got a nice intimate atmosphere which suited "Hatrick" down to the ground. Both members of "Hatrick" are veterans of the local music scene and certainly know their stuff! Greg Davies on guitar and vocals, there’s nothing I can say that's not been said about this guy. For my mind the finest guitarist in the local area and is one of those rare players that can turn his hand to any style of guitar playing and come up trumps every single time! Also a fine vocalist and falls in great with his cohort in crime, Phil Mawdsley when it comes to harmony vocals.

Also great to see Phil Mawdsley back out there after a long lay off and still showing he can cut it with the best of them once more. As I said with Roulette, well worth a trip out on a Sunday evening when am usually at home watching the goggle box.
