ONE of Britain’s top rock bands will be ready to thrill a Citadel audience this Saturday.

Hailing from South Wales, group Funeral For A Friend will come to the town for a one-night show.

Formed in 2001, the band rose to prominence following the release of their 2003 full-length debut album Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation. The record is widely regarded as one of the best punk albums of the early 2000s.

Their later albums, Hours, released in 2005 and Tales Don’t Tell Themselves, from 2007, saw a move away from hardcore metal towards more melodic rock.

However, more recent albums Welcome Home Armageddon, released in 2011, and last year’s Conduit, have seen the band return to the metal and hardcore influences of their earlier work.

Now on their sixth studio album, the group is one of the biggest names to play in St Helens in recent years.

Also, local band Cenacle will provide support at what should be a very special evening of great music.

The doors open on the night at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £15.
