AFTER the soaring success of the Westfield Street Festival, the Sefton Arms will now have live music events taking place every Friday and Saturday evening starting on August 1.

Last month’s festival saw people of all ages enjoying the live music being played in the bars as well as the acts and entertainment on the streets.

Matthew Williams, licensee of the Sefton, was a big supporter of the event that gave local musical talent a chance to showcase their talent in front of large crowds.

He told the Star: said “We had great feedback, lots of our customers saying they had really enjoyed the live acts.

“It was what they wanted; real music by local musicians.”

Ian Swift, from local duo The Swifty’s, who had arranged the entertainment at the Sefton on the day of the festival, was contacted and a plan was hatched to ramp up the live music scene at the pub.

From Friday, August 1, the Sefton will be hosting live music events every Friday and Saturday evening.

All the acts that performed at the Sefton on the day of the Westfield Street Festival have been booked to make an appearance, along with various other local acts.

Matthew Williams from the Sefton Arms said “We will be having solo artists playing guitar and other instruments, duos and bands.

“By doing this we hope to give people a reason to stay in St Helens rather than going to other towns or cities.”
