THE WORLD of Glass is hosting an eye opening exhibition featuring the paintings of artist Gordon Humphreys.

Suitably named Reflections, the collection of works by the Warrington artist includes reflected local urban and industrial scenes.

At a private viewing of the show in the Godfrey Pilkington Gallery Gordon’s work was well received and has already notched up considerable sales.

“I am often fascinated by what is reflected in mirrors, shop windows or water,” explains Gordon, a retired arts and design teacher who says he always encouraged his students to really look at things as opposed to just seeing them.

“It’s amazing what you notice if you really keep your eyes open.

“You can get intriguing glimpses of what lies behind the glass blended with the scene it reflects.

“These days I am painting full time and find much of my subject matter around the urban areas of Merseyside, especially Liverpool’s Albert Dock and the area around the city’s cathedrals.”

Other locations have included Paris and Manhattan while he makes regular trips to the St Ives area of Cornwall for its cliffs and seascapes.

Reflections runs at The World of Glass until Friday, July 18.
