Newton-le-Willows angling
Harry's Tackle Spring league round 5. Sunday, 27th April.
Seventeen anglers took part this Sunday on the Upper Pound section of the Sankey Canal.
The winner this week was veteran angler Eddie Cook with a catch of bream and silver fish on long pole and pellets for 14lbs-12ozs-8drms.
Second place went to Terry Jones with silver fish tench and bream on long pole and pellet for 12-6-0.
Third place was Ray Bowden with silver fish on pole and maggot and caster for 7-6-4.
Disabled & Over Sixties weekly members match. Thirteen anglers fished this match on pegs 40 to 53 on the Upper Pound section of the Sankey Canal. The winner making it two wins in a row, was Ivor Brown he caught silver fish on pole and pinky for 7-2-0.
Second place went to Billy Dowling with pole and maggot taking silver fish for 5-1-0.
Third went to Ray Bowden using long pole and caster notching up silver fish for 4-12-0.
Fourth was Kenny Buxton with silver fish on pole and maggot for 4-2-0.
Fishery News:
The Vulcan Reservoir is fishing very well at the moment with F1carp, tench, roach, ides and skimmers giving you all day sport, red maggot is catching well.
The Yew tree Reservoir sport seems to be on the up here at last, according to some of regular anglers here, skimmers, roach, rudd, bream, tench and double figure carp are now showing.
The members only section of the Sankey canal at Penkford Bridge is fishing well for tench, with one member having twelve fish in a session to 4lbs plus, also plenty of roach around the 6ozs with crucian carp, bream and carp up into double figures.
Membership is still open on Monday nights 8-30, at Newton social and cabaret club, Patterson St, (off Cross Ln) New seniors please bring two small photos for your pass.
