Man suffers head wound in attack

A ST HELENS man was taken to hospital with a gash to the head after an early morning attack in Warrington town centre.

The 19-year-old was allegedly attacked on Academy Street close to the former Kwik Save building in Warrington shortly before 5am on Wednesday and suffered a gash to the head that police say could have come from a crow bar.

An 18-year-old woman from Prescot, who he was with was also allegedly attacked, although there are no details of her injuries.

The man was treated in Warrington Hospital after ambulance crews said he needed stiches.

Anyone with information should call police on 0845 458 0000.
