Jacqueline revisits those golden days of childhood

Jacqueline Graham sent me this nostalgic poem.

“Where are the fields where we used to play?

Where are my friends? They’ve moved away.

Gone has Hewards old farm wall To make room for houses tall and small.

The Ivy Cottage and the tennis courts have gone as well, Happy days only our generation can tell.

But St.Nicholas’s church will always stand, Looking proud and serene as it grips tight the land.

Robins Lane park on a hot summer’s day With a bottle of water for a picnic, That was our way.

Through Sherdley Park I often walk, Remembering how my friend used to giggle and talk.

Remembering friends from the past Thanks to the Star I have met them again at last. “
