I usually seek out interesting and unusual things for me to do on my birthday, and this January was no exception for I went to see an eighteen piece big band (nineteen if you count the new Conga player).

The delight was that they are a local band, the Easy Street Big Band, who rehearse at Blackbrook Rugby Club and that was the venue of the concert.

With music by Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Stan Kenton and Herbie Hancock, and songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Doris Day and Ella Fitzgerald, it was an unforgettable delight. Catch them if you can.
