IN response to my recent mention of Gerard's Farm in Haresfinch, a reader called me to chat about it.
She said she was a child in the late 1940s and grew up in Islands Brow. She remembers that two elderly sisters lived in that farm building and lovingly tended their garden to produce beautiful flowers.
Indeed, she said, her mother sent her on the occasional errand to buy bouquets of fresh flowers that they would prepare and sell.
