The bowling green stirred up plenty of memories
THE old photo of the bowling green stirred up memories for some readers.
One, who has asked me not to print their name, said: "I was delighted to see the photo in The Star. I expect you have had many replies on that subject. However it was a happy memory for me as my family kept the Gerard Arms in Dentons Green many years ago.
"The one in the photo was the 'top green'. As a boy I knew Robinson often seen on the green. The ornate building on the left were the stables from the days when the Gerard was a farm and a pub which were combined until the 1920s."
