I HAD an email via the Star office from Pat Tunna from a place I hadn't heard of, Tunstall in Lancashire.
It's about 11 miles north east of Lancaster.
She wrote: "On a recent visit to Kranji War Cemetery in Singapore we saw the name Arthur Donald Pilling, killed in 1942, husband of Vera of Eccleston, St Helens."
Pat wondered if anyone might be interested in this so far away from home. "He was only aged 28. I took a photo of it if you are interested."
Does anyone have any information about him?
Pat added in a later email: "It was of interest because my partner's surname is Pilling. He is originally from Haydock and we did not expect to find a matching name so far away from home.
"Along with the graves Kranjii is home to the Singapore Memorial which bears the name of more than 24,000 casualties of the Commonwealth and air forces who died during WWII but have no known grave. This is where we saw the name and found the entry in the register."
