OUT in town in the early 80s I discovered the Raven featured live rock bands on a Friday night.
I'm no musician so I started a local 'zene' devoted to all the local rock bands I could find. It set me on the long road to producing 'zenes' and articles for newspapers and magazines - for free of course.
One of my favourites was Strange Brew and this is a picture of them in 1984. So where did you go to to see local live music in the 70s, 80s and 90s?
The Friends of the Theatre Royal will be holding a fund raising evening in January when the live musicians will be from that 80s era, the Jacky Bond band.
My thanks to Al Dyas for this snap.
