I CONSIDER Wolverhampton House to be one of our own 'Three Graces' along with the Friends Meeting House next door.

I was particularly pleased to receive an email from Joan Birkett as it combines local history and arts.

She said: "I hope you don't mind me contacting you. We have met a few times which you may remember but then again you might not.

"I am an independent visual artist working from Wolverhampton House. I am just about to register with the council about putting the property on the heritage list. This is not really about the building but more so the link with RG Brook who I am sure you know was quite a character and was part of the group who began certain art and culture organisations in St Helens, two of which are still operating today, The Art Club St Helens and The Camera Club.

"Myself and another person working from Wolverhampton House thought his links with the beginning of art and culture in the town was worth acknowledging in some way. We are therefore thinking of doing a number of things one being recreating some of the great photos recorded in the Art Club History Brook as a type of performance.

"Hopefully getting the art and camera club involved in some way and getting some more great photos done by the Camera Club.

"However another very interesting event is being made possible because RG Brooks great great grandson has agreed to come over for the event and to do a talk on his relative. He is coming from Canada at his own cost.

"He has a lot of information and is very happy to share with interested people. Like his great great grandfather he is a photographer so he has been active in researching and keeping images of the past.

"I am therefore writing to you to see if you and others involved with the history of St Helens would be interested in attending such an event? We are also hoping to organise some sort of small photography and art exhibition."

As Stan Laurel said: "Those not interested do not answer."
