GEOFF Sandford from the Northwest Museum of Road Transport in the town centre got in touch after spotting a car advert with a difference.
"In the past this St Helens built car has been in your column if I am not mistaken. It is now up for auction by a company in Rutland called FSE Group Ltd. Telephone number 01780 722442. The reserve price is £25,000.
"We have been contacted to see if we are interested at the museum but at that figure we cannot think about it. But maybe someone out there has that sum to spare."
Perhaps the council should acquire it as the new mayor's car as it has a touch of local history being in Pilkington Green and a large glass window.
