BROWNIE Guides celebrate their 100th anniversary this year.
I’m told the first pack in St Helens was at Peter Street and was opened by Miss Christine Pilkington. Her contribution and those of her family have made St Helens Guiding the largest female voluntary organisation in the town.
In 1994 to celebrate 80 years of brownies St Helens took over Blackpool Tower and in 2000 St Helens brownies joined others from all over the North West of England at the Winter Gardens.
In 2014 St Helens Division has 27 units with a total of 500 Brownies. For details about joining the Brownies call 01744 27194.
