A couple of weeks ago Keith Jones from Earlestown told me he had won Ray French’s book My Kind of Rugby in a raffle at Newton Cricket Club and inside was the inscription that it had been presented to John B Hodgson at Geoff Pimblett's testimonial dinner in 1980.
Keith is not a rugby fan and said he would like the book to go to someone who would appreciate it.
I’d like Keith to get in touch with me again with his contact details because I have had a call about the book from John B Hodgson’s son who informed me his father passed away in December 2012.
He said: “I remember the event in 1980 as he always talked about it. Geoff Pimblett, Kel Coslett and a few other players were good friends of my parents.
“My dad did indeed play cricket for St Helens CC even into his 60s. His son David carried on the tradition. It would be great if we could have the book in our family once again.”
