Mrs Hawksworth’s fruit and veg stall
HERE’S a charming back in time snapshot of Christmas shopping time The delightful picture was sent to me by Steve Wainwright, who runs the Sutton Beauty & Heritage website.
It shows Mrs Hawksworth and her daughter Alice, who ran a fruit and vegetable stall on St Helens Market.
The photo has been supplied by Cynthia Taylor, whose father, the Reverend William G. West is also in the picture.
He was the minister at Peasley Cross Congregation Church from 1953 to 1959.
The photograph was taken at Christmas time.
