Chris's pub quiz Chris's pub quiz

For this year’s holiday teaser, I have chosen old pictures of six of our old local hostelries, Two are close to the town centre and one each to the north, south, east and west.

You have to guess both their names and the communities they served.

The first is the Rolling Mill Tavern on Watery Lane and the second the Canal Vaults on Canal St.

The last one looks like it could be the Griffin at Eccleston, which I think was formerly the Magpie, serving the Eccleston and Gillars Green area.

The last one is definitely the Griffin. That's Christ Church's spire in the background.
