AMBITIOUS plans have been drawn up by professional boxer Martin Murray to create a giant leisure activity centre, including a climbing wall, trampoline park and kids’ play area.

A planning application has been submitted by Murray and businessman Andy Mikhail to convert premises at the Sandwash Business Park in Rainford.

The location on Sandwash Close had been subject to a previous application by the pair seeking to convert a unit into a boxing and martial arts gym.

However, those plans were shelved.

Murray, originally from Fingerpost, has submitted the application for the Sandwash Close premises with Mr Mikhail, who previously managed the boxer.

The application said: “Andrew and Martin came up with the plans after studying what type of business could utilise the premises.

The plans state: “It is proposed that the business park will be converted into an activity centre that will include a trampoline park, indoor climbing area, kids play area including soft landing zone, duel platform and zip lines/obstacle course.

“The centre will provide excellent employment opportunities for local residents, whilst delivering specialist activities for visitors.”

Under the move, the compnay Solarking could leave the business park in Rainford and relocate elsewhere in the St Helens borough.

As the Star previously reported Martin has set up Murray’s Fitness Academy, based at Cheshire Martial Arts Studio in Warrington, in a joint-venture with wife Gemma.
