MEMBERS of the Steve Prescott Foundation will have their walking shoes on for a trek to Manchester ahead of the Super League Grand Final.

Walkers will pay homage to Steve by walking from Saints' stadium to the Hotel Football, just outside Old Trafford ahead of Saturday's Grand Final.

Paul Walsh, general manager of Hotel Football said: “We are extremely honoured to be hosting the the walk for the second year in a row. The event last year was a huge success and this year will be even better!”

Martin Blondel, general manager of the SPF, added: "Back in 2007 it was our objective to raise £20,000 for the charities which supported Steve during the onset of his illness.

"From the Trans Pennine Walk, such was the support for Steve we actually raised £78,000. We were overwhelmed. This was the first time I realised that Steve was 'superhuman'.

"He started in Hull with blisters on his feet as a side-effect of chemotherapy but he would not back down and amazingly finished the walk. It was incredible to see first hand and was the sign of things to come!"

Linzi Prescott added: "When the SPF started in 2007 we never thought we would have helped so many people and raised so much money.

"The RFL family have been incredible and Stephen would be so humbled and proud to see his efforts supported by so many. We want to see as many people join us on the walk from St Helens RFC to Old Trafford.

"It would be especially nice to see all the people who took part in the inaugural walk and all the events in the past ten years join together, push their bodies to the limit and raise a glass of Sambuca at the end to Stephen."
