CHILDREN'S author Jessica Parish has raised more than £1,000 for charity on her latest book tour.

Jessica, the author of the Pugalugs book series, together with her canine stars Rocky aka Pugalugs and his brother Dug who also features in the books, gave a donation from every new copy of her book sold to chosen charities and raised money by donations.

Each of the 25 venues she visited as part of her “A Christmas Furry Tail” book launch chose their preferred charity including Action Epilepsy, Georgie’s Gift, Wigan and Leigh Hospice, the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK and a meningitis awareness charity in Manchester.

Jessica 29, from New Bold, said: “We are so grateful to all of the shops and shopping centres who have invited us into their space, and to our customers who have helped us to raise this money for well deserving causes.

My aim was to raise £1,000 for the local and national charities and I am delighted to say that we surpassed that target comfortably.”

“A Christmas Furry-Tail” is the fifth book in the popular series titled “The Adventures of Pugalugs”.

Jessica left her job as an Account Manager in 2014 to follow her dream of becoming a published author penning her first book in 2015 and since visiting more than 50 primary schools sharing her pugs stories and inspiring children to read and write their own stories too.
