JOHNNY Vegas ale and Man of Steel beer will add to the local flavour when St Helens Beer Festival returns to the town hall in support of the Steve Prescott Foundation.

They will be among the collection real ales, surprise beers and ciders and five quality being served up for visitors who can also enjoy hot food and live entertainment during the event, which will take place over the two days.

Among the festival organisers this year is real ale connoisseur Gary Wright, who is head brewer of George Wright Brewery and owner of The Talbot pub on Duke Street.

Last year saw the iconic civic building used as a beer festival venue for the first time and organisers hope the event will grow.

Gary Maddock, St Helens Council town centre manager, said: "The St Helens Beer Festival is a fantastic event which provides us with a great profile, increased footfall and spend within the town centre.

"The town hall is a perfect venue for this event and we will be working closely with the event organisers to make the event a great success and raising much needed monies for the Steve Prescott Foundation."

He added: "It is fantastic that Gary Wright is involved this year as he will bring a wealth of knowledge and contacts within the brewing industry to provide the very best real ales for the event."

The St Helens Beer Festival takes place on Friday, November 25 from 6pm to 11pm and Saturday 26 from 2pm to 11pm.

Tickets for each day cost £5 each which includes entrance fee, a glass and a programme. To guarantee entry purchase advance tickets via eventbrite.co.uk.
